Falling in love with a part of France we have never been to - Autumn road trip 2024

Exploring Southern France and a long overdue catch up with friends before heading North. The next week of the road trip had us exploring new parts of France and reconnecting with friends. It was a perfect combination. We found ourselves near Pic Saint Loup and just north of Montpellier, a city that we have never been drawn to, but it surprised us, it was quite stunning and its appeal was helped enormously by the light show that was staged just over the weekend we were there. L'Arche de l'aqueduc Castries Aqueduct Our first home for a few days was a vineyard and whilst the place we stayed wasn't perfect the setting was. It was very close to the town of Castries. It enabled us to do a circular walk around the vineyard and through a local forest. All of which tested mum's legs again. Barcelona and Tarragona speak for themselves - now for some winter sun Autumn trip part 5

 Barcelona and Tarragona speak for themselves Not much really needs to be said about either place as the pictures speak for themselves, in particular Sagrada Familia. Tarragona was a return visit for us, mum has never been and whilst it was a whistle stop tour of the old Roman parts of the city, it was enough for mum, who's legs are beginning to tire with so much walking. We did have a really delicious lunch in a very busy restaurant, and although we felt ignored for the first time in Spain, we were glad we waited patiently, as the food was so good and the waitress also turned out to be lovely, but rushed off her feet. We worried we had started to encounter some of the areas affected by the 'anti-tourism' sentiment and given how busy this small city was in November, it is easy to see why locals are so moved to protest.
